A woodfired tumbler, its facets and curves painted with soft orange flashing and light gray wood ash. The third image highlights shiny/iridescent feathery patterns in the surface of the piece that can be seen when viewed at just the right angle. The fourth image shows a close up view of the flashing and wood ash patterns seen on the interior of a shell impression. This is one of my woodfired tumblers that will be featured in the upcoming @charliecummingsgallery exhibition Cup: The Intimate Obiect XIX! The show opens online at Noon eastern on October 6th. I threw this tumbler from three pounds of troy porcelain @bklynclay, and I faceted and trimmed it using a @mudtools carving bow and fettling knife. After being bisque fired, I refined all the surfaces and edges using @diamondcoretools sanding pads.
