We recently completed our 2023 Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program!👩‍💻 We hosted two 2-week virtual programs, one in the U.S. (our 7th year running) and the other in Europe (2nd year running). During the program, high school students attended classes sponsored by industry-leading companies. This year, students were introduced to game design, beginner to intermediate computer science concepts, the iterative design process, UX design basics and an overview of the #tech industry! 💻 Pictured👆are two organizers, Brooke (left) and Ummay (right). They are Engineers on the Aladdin Cloud Engineering team. Here’s what they had to say about what the Girls Who Code (GWC) Summer Immersion Program means to them: “As women in tech, we feel programs like GWC are integral for continuing to successfully inspire women and non-binary individuals to pursue careers in #STEM. Every summer, we look forward to interacting with the GWC Classroom and hosting various events centered around topics such as tech careers, college applications and networking. This year, we had the opportunity to test games made by the students. The BlackRock volunteers were blown away by how well-made and fun the games were to play.
