In this upside-down world we live in we still need to commemorate the International Equal Pay Day, to raise awareness about unequal pay for work of equal value. Today is an opportunity for renewing our commitment to human rights and ending all forms of discrimination, including the gender pay gap. Around the world women are paid less than men, with the gender pay gap estimated at around 20% globally. Gender equality and the economic empowerment of women and girls continue to be held back due to the persistence of historical, cultural, and structural unequal power relations between women and men. We need to have a radical change in our perspective putting all our efforts to achieve gender equality.
