SPOT-ETCH VENEER PROVISIONALS - our preferred technique… It is not easy to provisionalize restorations that purely rely on adhesion. You do not want to bond the provisionals completely, because you would have to destroy your preparation upon removal. The spot-etch technique will keep the provisional in place while preserving the preparation for the most part: Only etch and bond the enamel in a small area of about 1-2 mm2. Use the mock up silicone index. And always tell the patient that something may fracture off but it’s easy to repair with composite. That way they don’t get upset if something does fracture.
