Here‘s a remake of my candy wall, originally painted in Melbourne in 2003. A collector has been loving this wall so much so he asked me to repaint it on a canvas for his home. There were only two changes: He wanted a grey background instead of the brown one from the original and he wanted me to add SMEE from Peter Pan. The size of the canvas is 4,5m x 2m, so it’s almost the original size from the wall in Melbourne. It felt more like painting a wall instead of a canvas because of the size. I had such a flashback when the canvas was finished. Usually you never see your paintings twice. Once you’ve finished and leave the spot you will probably never see it again. The only thing that remains is the photo of the piece and the memories of painting it. Especially when you travel and paint in other cities or countries.
