CHP OFFICERS SEIZE APPROXIMATELY 8 POUNDS OF COCAINE FRESNO, Calif. - California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers seized approximately eight pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 (1-5) in Fresno County. The discovery of the drugs, with an estimated street value of approximately $480,000, resulted in the arrest of 26-year-old Alexander Kwong of Rosemead, CA. On Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at approximately 3:42 p.m., a @chp_centraldivision K-9 Sergeant conducted an enforcement stop on a 2023 Chevrolet pickup (U-Haul) for a traffic violation. The stop occurred on northbound 1-5 at Panoche Road, in Fresno County. During the contact, the Sergeant noted several factors that led him to believe the driver was engaged in criminal activity. A CHP K-9 officer, and his canine partner "Hutch" were requested and responded to the scene. The officer deployed his K9 partner on the exterior of the truck and received a positive alert. A search of the Chevrolet led to the discovery of approximately eight pounds of cocaine. The driver, Kwong, was arrested, and the case was turned over to the Fresno High Impact Investigations Team (HIIT). Kwong was subsequently booked into the Fresno County Jail on the charges of possession of cocaine for sale, and transportation of cocaine across noncontiguous counties.
