Jacob Jubiläums-Festbier, Festbier 5.6% Privatbrauerei Jacob Stauber Essen Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany. The history of Privatbrauerei Jacob Essen started in 1867 when Theodor Stauber who was a journeyman, brewer and cooper from Laub Lower Franconia bought the Schlicker brewery in Essen, when his son Jacob Stauber got in charge of he brewery he moved it to Altenessen and had the brewery registered under in his own name in the Royal Prussian Company register. He was followed up by Casper Stauber who led the brewery through the first world war and the big world economic crisis. Hans Jacob Stauber had to cope with a similar situation in the turmoil of the 2nd world war. In 1967 he was followed by his sons Claus and Rolf Stauber and currently Thomas and Axel Stauber are in charge of the brewery. I tried their 'Jacob Jubiläums-Festbier' a beer with an abv of 5.6% and brewed with Saphir as hop. The beer has a deep golden color wich is close to copper. It has an unfiltered look, and pours a white steady 1.5 finger head. In the aroma  the smell of wet grass, dandelion, autumn leaves and a hint of caramel. The beer has a smooth mouthfeel and I tasted the following flavors : citrus, mandarin, grassy, biscuit, caramel and it ends with a dry partly sticky finish. Nice beer.
