‘Doors to Deception’ by Nitesh Sinha was a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense! The story revolves around Rohan, a 19-year-old boy living under strict parents, yearning for adventure. When he stumbles upon a baffling newspaper article about a supposedly deceased girl, Rishina, he dives into a maze of secrets, deceit, and danger. The author masterfully crafts the tension and fear Rohan feels when he believes the police are onto him. The scene with the approaching police jeep had my heart pounding - it's described with such vivid detail that I felt like I was right there with Rohan. The characters are well-developed, and I felt a strong connection with Rohan. His internal struggle and guilt over a tragic event from his past had me empathizing with him. Rishina, too, is portrayed with depth, especially in her reaction to Rohan's revelation. The narrative style is engaging and keeps you hooked. The pacing is spot-on, with the story progressing at just the right speed to maintain the suspense. The dialogues feel natural and add authenticity to the characters' interactions. The setting in Chawla Apartments is vividly described, making it easy to picture the scenes in my mind. The contrast between Rohan's life and the boy across the building is a poignant touch that adds depth to the narrative. The book tackles themes of guilt, redemption, and the complexities of truth, leaving the reader questioning what they would do in Rohan's shoes.
