Side-stoking the woodkiln @theokidokistudio with small pieces of ash and maple, which burn and create a small ember bed between the front and back stacks of pottery. Watch until the end to see the “wicking” technique, which involves filling the side-stoke port with a few pieces of wood, and pressing them into the kiln just far enough so that they can burn while staying suspended above the coal bed. The final clip shows a view of the cantilevered pieces of wood from inside the kiln 🔥 Today we are unloading the train kiln! The reduction-cooled woodfiring led by @alindsayo went incredibly smoothly, and we cannot wait to open up the kiln today to see the results ✨ Thanks to @asartoriusceramics, @sarahfoxpottery, and @daisy_goldstein for all you do to host these workshops!
