You heard that right 💯💰👇 (📌save this post so you’ll be prepared next time your flight gets delayed or canceled) Did you know that a huge benefit of certain travel credit cards is trip delay/cancellation reimbursement? If your flight is delayed more than 6-12 hours or overnight, you can be eligible for compensation up to $500 per ticket (for which travel companions are covered depends on the card) of reasonable expenses—such as lodging, food, clothing, toiletries, medications, etc. One time, our flight was delayed for over 7 hours in CLT and was eventually cancelled with the next flight out being the following day. The airline did not accommodate us with food or a hotel voucher. I was able to book a comfortable hotel for the night near the airport and we enjoyed a nice (but reasonable) dinner as well which was all reimbursed thanks to booking the taxes & fees on these award tickets with my Amex Platinum Card. This is key for weather related flight delays and cancellations in which most airlines will not provide food or hotel vouchers. Be sure to always keep your receipts for all purchases made because you will have to submit these as part of your claim. Be sure to submit within 30 days. You must pay for at least part of the airline ticket using the card with coverage—this means that even paying the taxes and fees on the card for award tickets counts too!
