I wasn’t sure how I’d feel after a whole year of homeschooling 4 kids with a baby on my hip. Would I change my mind and want to re-enroll them? I didn’t know, but I knew I had to give it a try. After much research, I did my best to tailor each kiddos curriculum to how they learn best. One loves workbooks. One learns best through creativity, visuals, manipulatives, etc… Although it took some time to get it all figured out, I finally feel like I’ve got a great schedule/rhythm going. I don’t miss the morning shuffle, the crammed schedule with school and sports, the homework, the rushing through dinner, it just wasn’t working for us. We typically school Mon-Thur and never go later than noon. This slower paced schedule allows us to do so much more together. I’ve had to drown out all the negative noise “your kids won’t know how to be social” or “won’t they be sad they missed dances/spirit week” or “do they really learn anything at home” etc… The bottom line is I’m their Mom, and I see them thriving and I see them happier! And my job is to make sure that is always the case! My public and private school Mamas often say to me “I don’t know how you do it?!” And to that I reply “I don’t know how YOU do it!” I’m just so happy we all get to do what is best for our own individual families! Life is good!
