I thought love looked like slammed doors , screaming and cold shoulders when in actuality it looks like consoling , it looks like 6 hours of silence or our hearts pouring out of our mouths into the bed that we sleep on …together. Love looks like transforming the couch from a place of punishment or solitary confinement to a place to giggle, a place for head to lap naps , a place where I scroll through Tik toks as you scramble to finish minute papers. I thought we might have plateaued but finally we created our solid ground to build on. No longer do we create our happy ever afters on stilts and tooth pick frames , just to fall down and crumble but on solid truth and realistic expectations. We built our dream floor. I thought our love turned plain , but it instead it grows hungry that it has a place to live.
