Bug would be banned if we lived in any number of other places… just based on her breed/appearance. News of the UK potentially banning ALL American XL Bullies after recent incidents with “suspected” American Bullies has been weighing heavy on my mind. My heart goes out to anyone and their family involved in such incidents, but banning entire breeds based on the actions of few will also not solve a centuries old problem that’s rooted in irresponsible human behavior. Poor or non-existent standards for breeding, backyard breeding, misguided or lack of training and socialization, etc. are all potential contributors to the nature vs. nurture argument and ultimately the resulting behaviors. Rather than holding humans responsible for the damage they do, we continue to blame and vilify the dogs. The most recent DNA test I did for Bug came back 100% American Bully (a previous one was 94% AmStaff 6% AmBulldog) and she would therefore be banned in the UK and many other places just based on that alone.
