So here are some of the things that I did that helped me to land a lot of freelance work. 1 Create your portfolio. I know you have heard this advice many time but it is true, keep your work handy it can be anything A behance link or a PDF or now an Instagram account as well. It helps the client to understand your design process. 2. Decide your niche. When you talk about designing, there are a lot of things and even though you can do every thing , you have to find something that you are really good at. When I found out Digital designing is my strongest suite, I started focusing on that and it instantly helped me to get lots of client. 3. Socialise. I know it sounds scary and time-consuming as well but believe me there is nothing better than word of mouth and it can only happen when you interact with people. I used to attend many shows and also would connect through social media with people that I felt could help me with my work, and not all the times people would reply but that is okay because the one who replied helped me really with getting new clients. 4. Understand your client. Many times the client would ask me to do a small change after the final file which used to be frustrating but you have to understand that they are not doing that to your time but they genuinely need your help. So I would do it when I felt the client was genuine instead of being rigid it on my policy.
