George Washington presided over the 1787 #ConstitutionalConvention for three months, much of which was spent in the “Rising Sun” chair. This chair features a crest rail carved with a sun. As the delegates signed the U.S. Constitution, Benjamin Franklin said that he had the great happiness to know it was a rising—not setting—sun.
