Faceted yunomi and bowls, seen yesterday while unloading the woodkiln @theokidokistudio. This firing, led by @alindsayo, created an array of marvelous reduction-cooled surfaces! Looking forward to sharing more about these latest pieces and the woodfiring process during the coming weeks ✨ The last two images show a before/after of the cone pack that sat on a shelf at the front of the kiln. These cones measure heat work, and are vital to the firing process. Throughout the firing, their melting is used to track the trajectory of the firing and the distribution of heat throughout the kiln 🔥 Feeling grateful for everyone involved in this firing: @alindsayo, @asartoriusceramics, @sarahfoxpottery, @daisy_goldstein, @publicstoneware, @smilingsunpottery, and @micheleventoceramics. I made these pieces from the @tuckers.pottery dark stoneware, and faceted them using my favorite @mudtools carving bow and fettling knife. After the initial carving, I textured them using shells and stones.
