Its unique population is made up of artists, musicians and farmers. So you can expect to drive by a farm stand, art studio or artisan shop every few seconds! How to get there: 🚢 BC Ferries offers service to Salt Spring Island from Victoria (Swartz Bay), Vancouver Island (Crofton), and Vancouver (Tsawwassen). 🛩 Harbour Air/SaltSpring Air offers a seaplane service to Salt Spring Island from Vancouver or Richmond. ✍️ 1-Day Itinerary: 🍳 Breakfast at the Tree House Cafe - Our favourite hobbit-like restaurant! 🛍 Shopping in Ganges Village - Most businesses on the island are located in or near Ganges. This is also the location of the legendary Salt Spring Saturday Market that runs from early April to late October. 💐 Visit a Lavender Farm - There are two on the island - Sacred Mountain or Lavender & Black. 🧀 Visit Salt Spring Island Cheese - This farm specializes in hand packaged artisan goat cheeses (the best goat cheese I’ve ever had!). 🍲 Lunch at Salt Spring Wild Cider House - Here they produce artisanal craft ciders which are paired with an incredible menu and a gorgeous property. 🍎 Visit an Apple Orchard - Apples are a big deal on Salt Spring Island! Over 400 varieties grow here. This year’s Apple Festival is happening on October 1st! 🏔 Visit Mount Maxwell Provincial Park - Drive up Mount Maxwell to take in views of Vancouver Island, the surrounding Gulf Islands and the mainland of British Columbia. ⚠️ The gravel road to the summit of Mount Maxwell is steep and very rough! Four-wheel drive with high clearance is recommended. 🍻 Dinner and evening at Moby’s Pub - an local pub with great views, live music and games.
