Would you leave a watch in a hotel safe? Of course, the school solution is no.  You don’t have to be a super spy to know that hotel safes are not secure. But my answer is “it depends.”  What is the alternative?  What is the watch?  What type of safe is it and have the default codes been reset?  What city are you in?  What hotel is it? Where are you going? It depends. This is actually a very nuanced topic and something that we should probably cover in a more detailed write up.  While not ideal, I have left watches and other valuables in hotel safes.  That said, I would not leave anything truly irreplaceable in a hotel safe or outside of my control while traveling. Everything you travel with should be considered perishable to some extent. To be clear, I am not advocating for the use of hotel safes.  But there are times that it is the best (or least worst) option.  The world is not black and white.
