• 𝕭𝖔𝖔𝖐 𝕽𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖊𝖜 • Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo is a famous trilogy that needs no introduction. First and foremost I want to mention that the book has some pretty good quotes and I really enjoyed annotating them. As it's a pretty famous series, so no plot briefing, go Google up. I am coming straight to what I loved and what didn't work for me. I would like to begin with Bardugo's writing style. She knows how to spin the threads to keep people hooked. I was hooked from the very first chapter. The series has a diverse set of characters. The book had a lot of potential in this regards but couldn't put to use. Now, coming to the characters. Alina Starkov character was basic. I couldn't feel attached to her. She is a "Saint" who doesn't have my loyalty, LOL. I loved the character of Nikolai, Genya, Baghra as well as Darkling. These are far far better than two who should have been my favourite, Alina and Mal. I neither love Alina nor Mal! I am really hopeful for King of Scars duology for Nikolai's character. Next comes setting. Honestly, I felt the world is underdeveloped. It needs a lot of work. Besides, it doesn't give proper explanation to a few major events too which makes things hard to believe. The plot is stretchy. The entire thing could be fitted in a one thick read. There are unnecessary detailings, but it lacks detailing where it needed to be. I had to drag myself to finish the series in the third book. It was somewhat repeatative for me. Honestly, I expected lot more from this series as it's so hyped.
