What a powerful and extremely thought provoking read! This was a mix of psychological suspense and fictionalized true crime and was truly unlike anything I’ve ever read before! Knoll chooses to reframe the conversation and gives back the voice to the women who were left behind in the aftermath of such heinous acts. This isn’t a story about a famous serial killer, it’s a story of survival. I genuinely applaud Knoll’s decision to only name Bundy once as he was referred to The Defendant throughout the story and the trial. That’s a decision to reclaim power and the narrative that we don’t see enough of as we continue to glorify these extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile men. While a bit slow at times and certainly lengthly, it’s unquestionable that this raw and dark story will make you feel uncomfortable, evoke incredible emotion, and leave you thinking long after the final page. This title?
