A Blast from the Past!!! WHAT ARE YOU KNOWN FOR? The year was 2007, I had just completed my Post graduate degree (M.A. Visual Arts) in UniversityofLagos, Akoka, Nigeria. I was at Idi-oro, Mushin in Lagos shopping for art supplies- canvas and primer. My phone rang and @gregonyeka mentioned that a soldier came to the studio demanding the service of a portrait artist. I arrived immediately and he took me in his car to Bonny Camp to see the Commandant. Maj Gen Thompson Oliomogbe. They have pictures of the Past Commandants that are decaying and he wanted them reproduced in oil on canvas for posterity. . Knowing I was painting for the Nigerian Armed Forcel, I took extra time to detail and capture the semblance to avoid and the Commandant was impressed. I was commissioned to produce another set of portraitures followed by another set and others in succession. I was busy and blessed by their engagements cos it's "Pay as you go" . Recently, a woman came to our church on a Sunday to.see me. We met after the service and said- "They are looking for you". Long story short, The last Commandant requested that the artist who started the project should be commissioned to do his own portrait. . Keep at it, grow and master your skill through consistent practice. You can't do everything, you can only be known for something!!. Have a rebellion in you that insists on Newness in your creative Voyage.
