Fortunately, Stronghold brand denim rises to the challenge. Just look at the stunning fading on thid pair of jeans. Who needs buttons when you have the perfect patina on the denim? In 1895, Brownstein and his cousin Philip Newmark aimed to open a wholesale men's clothing store. With the support of a businessman, they secured a $10,000 loan on the condition of adding Henry W. Louis as a partner. By 1898, Brownstein, Newmark & Louis became known for manufacturing work clothes, particularly overalls. It was also the inaugural unionized garment shop in Los Angeles. Their jeans were affordable compared to Levi's, yet they were crafted with quality denim and solid construction. They quickly gained popularity, as evidenced by the abundant number of jeans found in mining excavations.
