‘you can motivate by fear, and you can motivate by reward. both of those methods are only temporary. the only long-lasting thing is SELF-MOTIVATION.’ It is not our jobs as educators to create a space where our students depend on our motivation, feedback, or accountability…it is our job to maintain a classroom and CULTURE where our students are empowered to learn how they can develop self-motivation, self-awareness, and personal accountability. A time will come when ‘your’ students are no longer stepping foot into your space…have you prepared them to take on the world with confidence, trust, and a work ethic that will help them achieve success in whatever they pursue? learning how to dance is a beautiful process…learning how to be a self-motivated and passionate person who isn’t afraid of a challenge is life changing.
