Look I honestly never thought I’d be a homeschooling mum but now that this is where life has lead us, I can’t imagine raising Nyah any other way. I think the biggest misconceptions around homeschooling is that A) your kids won’t have the same social skills or they’ll be lonely. We’ll if you’ve ever met Nyah (or most other travel kids) you’ll know that this couldn’t be further from the truth and B) that your kids will be behind in learning. Well…. This one depends on how you choose to homeschool. Some parents follow a more traditional curriculum while others, like us, let the kids learn at their own pace. Nyah is only in yr. 1 so this might change, but honestly have a think back to your education, most of what we learn doesn’t even apply in this day and age. I believe we need to raise good whole humans that are inquisitive and think outside the box. Our kids are growing up with so many resources at their fingertips (AI) so their brains don’t need to know all the things, they just need to know how to use these technologies to their advantage. All in all I just want her to fall in love with learning and not be forced to sit at a desk and learn things that she will likely never use and I’m grateful everyday that we can raise her this way.
