#20thanniversary Released on September 23, 2003, today marks the 20th anniversary of “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”, the fifth studio album from Southern hip-hop duo OutKast (@outkast) 🔉/🌹 Released on Arista Records, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” was the follow-up to the 2000 album “Stankonia”. As a double album, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” was unique in that it combined solo records from both members of OutKast: Big Boi (@bigboi) recorded the more traditional, P-Funk influenced “Speakerboxxx”, while André 3000 (@andre3000) recorded the experimental and psychedelic funk record “The Love Below”. Led by two number one hit singles, ‘The Way You Move’ and ‘Hey Ya!’, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” was both a critical and commercial success. Debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, the double album has since been certified 11x Platinum. Notably, OutKast won Grammy’s for both Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards. Production on “Speakerboxxx” was handled by Big Boi, André 3000, Carl Mo, and Mr. DJ (@iammrdj), while production on “The Love Below” was handled entirely by André 3000.
