She always does such a great job of mixing history in with her thrillers and doing her research. This one is no exception! Now you know I don’t really do series-but this is one I will stick with. I loved both Van Reed and Harry Steinbeck. I can’t wait to see more of both of them and their ominous backstories. Reed is sympathetic and has such a rich backstory I am going to need more of it in my life. Plus, the fact that she loves/volunteers at a dog shelter?! My people! This is a true crime/police procedural at its core and it reads like such. I got Criminal Minds vibes and the lore of the Bendy Man really creeped me out. I even looked up the “bendy” disorder after and was even more creeped out. The mystery was spot on and it just flowed so well.
