“Pain is just French for bread”, saw this sign 10 times @berlinmarathon today and yes totally apt for me 😆 Managed to finish in 4h 34 min though I wanted to DnF many times after 20km. It started out pretty well with the insane crowd vibes (they literally lined up all the way from start to finish), never heard my name being shouted so many times before during a race, with everyone from all ages excitedly cheering us on and the kids sticking out their palms. I felt bad that I was too tired to even smile in their direction toward the end but their cheers really helped when I ended up slowing to a jog after 25km+. Didn’t cramp because I had sufficient gels from @secrettrainingsg but I guess that was the limit my body could take with half my usual lung capacity because I was still recovering. In fact I wanted to take it slow at the beginning but maybe it was the cold weather and the crowd vibes, my starting pace at 5:30 felt pretty comfy and made easier with my @adidassg Prime X 2 which honestly might have scammed time to go abit faster with its bounciness 😆 Hopefully that means I’m one step closer to my sub 4 goal next time but in the meantime though I didn’t get my PB but I’m pretty proud of myself for not giving up even when slow jogging felt terrible after 25km. Congrats to #TeamBerlin and everyone else who ran, so proud of y’all with so many getting your PBs!
