It’s time for candy corn again! This week I’ll be showing you all things candy corn! It’s one of those candies that you either love it or hate it. Did you know that candy corn has been around for more than a century? According to an oral tradition, George Renninger, a candymaker at the Wunderlee Candy Company in Philadelphia, invented candy corn in the 1880s. And at the turn of the century, The Goelitz Confectionery Company brought it to the masses. That company is now called Jelly Belly Candy Co. I never knew that!!! Fun fact: When the Goelitz Confectionery Company first made candy corn, it was called “Chicken Feed.” The boxes were illustrated with a colorful rooster logo and a tagline: “Something worth crowing for.” So whether you like to eat it, or just use it in your decor for Halloween, I think we all can agree it’s a staple for Halloween and a tradition we all can relate to.
