Over the past two weeks, through my work with @explorewesternmass and @holyokestpatricksparade, I’ve had the privilege of learning about the “Sister City” connection of Dingle, Ireland and West Springfield, MA. So, what does it mean to be a “Sister City?” Sister City relationships enable communities to strengthen cultural and historical bonds, increase youth education opportunities, develop diverse economies, and collaboratively tackle emerging issues. Western Massachusetts has a lot of residents who are descendants of Tralee & Dingle. So they became sister cities to share opportunities like @thebigefair, high school student exchange visits, cultural exchanges between organizations like the Springfield Museums and Blasket Islands Center, etc. ☘️ It’s been incredible partnering with the @dinglepeninsulatourism to raise awareness of this incredible partnership!
