Do you use goldenrod and if yes, how so? Harvest & Use For the most potent medicine moment, harvest flowering tops as the flowers are just starting to open. Strip out stems. If drying, harvest when flowers are budding to prevent the blossoms from turning to seed during the drying period. Use as a tea or tincture for clearing sinus catarrh (excess mucus) in sinuses (tincture preferred). Or use tea to open the kidney’s as a diuretic for urinary tract irritation, inflammation, kidney stones, etc. To tincture fresh flowering tops, use 140 proof menstruum (70% alcohol). Habitat of Solidago rugosa: Anthropogenic sites; meadows, fields, wetland edges. Full sun to part sun in most soil types. USDA Hardiness Zones 4-8. Range: Native of E. to C. regions N. America.
