Alfa Romeo GTC “acqua di fonte” Touring In the intentions of the Alfa Romeo management, the Giulia GTC was supposed to represent the spider version of the new Giulia range, completing the renovation of the cars belonging to the old Giulietta range. The maquette of the car was prepared by Bertone simply by removing the roof from the Giulia GT coupe designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The new car was officially unveiled at the 1965 Geneva Motor Show. The work of refinement and assembly of the cars was entrusted to the Carrozzeria Touring which made some slight aesthetic changes and more substantial improvements to the chassis part, aimed at reinforcing it and, at the same time, limiting its weight. In fact, the GTC has the same weight as the GT from which it derives. The soft top, excellently made of “manoseta” material, allows the travel comfortably with the rear window and the windows completely lowered. The decision to entrust the built of the GTC to Touring was probably taken to continue the fruitful collaboration with the prestigious Milanese body shop that had already created the Spider 2000 and 2600 At the same time, the Pininfarina and the Bertone were strongly engaged in the production of the new Spider in starting that of the Fiat 850 Spider. The GTC did not meet the favor of the public, who continued to prefer the now old-fashioned Giulia Spider 1600, In addition, the immediate and unambiguous appreciation shown by customers towards Pininfarina's new Duetto spider marked the end of the GTC.
