Even a former spy tower can be turned into an art gallery only in Berlin. Visited Teufelsberg, a hill in Berlin where antennas and huge dishes were built for intercepting and jamming radio signals from the Eastern Bloc. The field station was used by the American forces until the end of the Cold War in 1989. Did a short hike (more like a walk though) from the nearest Heerstrasse station, about 2km where we mostly followed Google map and a path right into the woods leading to this spy tower. The grounds are huge with the art gallery not just inside the tower but even around the surrounding woods, there was so much to see not just in terms of the street art but also the view of Berlin from the top. Always find it amazing how abandoned buildings have changed with the course of time, it’s almost hard to reconcile the history with it. Still glad I finally got to spend a little bit of time in the woods after days of being in the city!
