The animal kingdom is full of surprises. 🐾 From the little-explored depths of the ocean, to the buzzing around the flowers in our own backyards, every day researchers are documenting new and curious things about the wildlife we share this planet with. For example, researchers from @murdochuniversity studied how individual quokkas changed their home ranges following planned burns. Researchers observed a shift in the behaviour of six quokkas previously residing in areas subjected to planned burns. The quokkas moved into fire exclusion zones. They actively avoided the burn areas for an average of three months. The findings emphasise the importance of appropriately sized and located fire exclusion areas in conservation management.
