The Beauty of Sainte-Anne Church ✨🇷🇪 Nestled in the heart of Réunion Island’s East lies the remarkable Sainte-Anne Church. A true gem of Reunionese heritage, this Catholic marvel has graced our island since the late 19th century, thanks to the vision of Monseigneur Desprez and Abbé Cornet. Designated as a historical monument in 1982, this church underwent a transformative journey in 1922 under the influence of Father Georges Daubenberger, a Strasbourg priest. It adopted a resplendent Baroque style, adorned with intricate moldings, whimsical gargoyles, and cherubic faces. To honor Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, canonized in 1925 by Pope Pius XI, a graceful chapel was added. But what truly makes this place special is the dedication of the ‘Congregation of the Daughters of Mary,’ along with the young women, children, and village volunteers.
