Biography
Le 20 octobre 1984, Cartier inaugure à Jouy-en-Josas, près de Versailles, la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, un geste pionnier en faveur de l'art vivant. Dix ans plus tard, en mai 1994, la Fondation Cartier s'installe à Paris, dans l'architecture de verre et d'acier créée pour elle par Jean Nouvel. Depuis trente ans, la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain est fidèle aux valeurs avec lesquelles elle construit son action et affirme son identité. Elle privilégie la découverte, en révélant au public des jeunes artistes ou en dévoilant la part secrète d'artistes mondialement reconnus. Elle privilégie la création à travers la commande et la production d'œuvres. En s'ouvrant aux domaines les plus divers de la création et de la connaissance, elle provoque, dans le cadre de ses expositions, la curiosité et la découverte.
