Türkiye Radyo Televizyon Kurumu (TRT), devlet adına radyo ve televizyon yayınlarını gerçekleştirmek amacıyla, 01 Mayıs 1964’te, özel yasayla özerk tüzel bir kişiliğine sahip olarak kuruldu. 1972’deki anayasa değişiklikleri ile kurum “tarafsız” bir kamu iktisadi kuruluş olarak tanımlandı. 18 Mart 2010 tarihinde yayın hayatına başlayan TRT Haber kanalı, televizyonun yanı sıra, internet haber sitesi ve sosyal ağlarda da güncel ve doğru haber akışını aktif olarak sürdürmektedir.
