„Bin wie eine Kriegerin, ohne Schwert und ohne Schild.“ -ela.- (Singer-Songwriterin aus Berlin) Über ela.: ela. weiß was sie will. Schon als Kind folgt sie zielstrebig ihrem Weg, der ganz aus Musik gemacht ist – und bekommt dabei nichts geschenkt. Als sie acht ist, zieht ihre polnische Familie aus der Ukraine ins Saarland, ohne dass Elżbieta Steinmetz ein Wort Deutsch spricht. Sie wird ausgegrenzt, aber anstatt sich zurückzuziehen, geht das erstaunliche kleine Mädchen in die Offensive: Sie übt Tag und Nacht Vokabeln und kann nach einem halben Jahr Aufsätze verfassen. „Ich wollte unbedingt, dass die Kinder mich verstehen. Songs zu schreiben hat mir schon damals geholfen, Gefühle zu verarbeiten und an mich zu glauben. Ich habe diesen inneren Antrieb, immer wieder aufzustehen und weiterzumachen.“
