Biography
İhsan ve eşi Sevinç, İhsan'ın kuru temizleme işinden bolca para kazanmış ve sınıf atlamaya karar vermişlerdir. İhsan'ın hayatta yükselme çabaları dahilinde Gültepe'de bir gecekondudan Etiler'deki yeni lüks evlerine taşınmışlardır. Üst kat komşuları Türk- Rum çifti Feraye ile Yorgo, kızları Pelin, yan komşuları kitapkurdu İrfan ve İhsan'ın annesi Cevriye Hanım (dizinin ilerleyen bölümlerinde hakkın rahmetine kavuşmuştur) ile alışık olmadıkları bu yeni "Tatlı Hayat" hem onları yeni ufuklara taşıyacak hem de yepyeni sorunlarla karşı karşıya bırakacaktır. Feraye ve Yorgo'nun gündelikçisi olduğunu öğrenen İhsan, Sevinç için de bir hizmetçi tutmak istemektedir. Fakat Sevinç bu fikre şiddetle karşıdır, çünkü Sevinç geldiği yeri bilmekte ve böyle bir ihtiyaç görmemektedir. İhsan Sevinç'i sosyetik hayata alıştırmaya çalışmaktadır. Bunun üzerine bir hizmetçi tutulmaktadır (Menekşe). Ancak Menekşe (Asuman Dabak), İhsan'la sürekli zıtlaşan, tembel ancak bunu örtebilen ve hazırcevap biridir.
