The peak of my love for trains. There were moments when I felt that dreams do come true, but this surpassed my wildest imagination—a dream I had never even dared to dream. Purely hypothetical until this very day. Steam engines, the closest man has ever come to make life out of iron and steel, a mechanical marvel that breathes fire into existence. And then, there exists The Flying Scotsman, arguably the most famous locomotive on the face of earth. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and built in the 1923 at Doncaster works as just another steam locomotive, is now celebrated worldwide for reaching her centennial year in 2023. I would, without any hesitation, call this moment the pinnacle of my love for trains. From the stories told by my grandfather, to watching YouTube videos as a teenager, and now to witness The Flying Scotsman herself thundering down through the Scottish countryside on her centenary run, it does make me a bit emotional. The 3rd of July, 2023—a date forever etched in my memory, destined to be cherished for the rest of my days. This photograph will never be just another train picture in my collection, but rather a deeply personal milestone that I will savor throughout my lifetime. Long live The Flying Scotsman, one of mankind's beloved creations.
