Field Notes: 80 kilometres on the Tour Du Mont Blanc Diary, from France to Italy 🏔️ Three days and 80km hiked with everything we needed on our backs. We passed through quaint french villages as children played on the streets, crossed little rivers and climbed mountain passes. We walked across the French and Italian border at 2500m above sea level and slid down a glacier. We had planned to complete the 170km loop, bringing us from Italy and into Switzerland before returning to France, but my longstanding knee injuries had other plans and changed the course of our trip on the fourth day, after three long days of hiking, climbing and descending. There is disappointment, but more than that there is achievement and thankfulness and excitement at a change of plans. Life is unpredictable and the body is a fragile thing. Now, I am driving through corn fields in the Italian countryside on the way to Milan, before finishing out this beautiful trip in Switzerland.
