I was encouraged by my therapist to go back and visit the old “Trap House”…a place where I endured a lot of long days and hard nights. Crack cocaine hit the African American families in every city hard in the 80’s through the early 2000’s. Augusta, Ga was no exception. It destroyed several families, killed some, and paid bills for some. Some of us had the experience of enduring all scenarios related! It’s amazing how a place that causes so much pain and trauma you still find a way to love it! The loss of loved ones, murders, incarceration, money, prostitution, and everything else that came with being raised in poverty! These things often leaves those of us who survived it all with a sense of remorse! It’s taken me 39 years to accept the fact that I’m truly blessed and deserve everything I’m experiencing present day. I’ve been a long way from the experience for a while but still so close in my heart ❤️! The healing process for it all is just beginning!
