🎤 I’ve often been asked… “How did you become a “Bellydance Superstar” & what are you up to now?” 🤗 Well… I’ve received a lot of love & guidance, worked incredibly hard, & been very lucky! 👀Here’s a brief look… PART 1 of 2 (Where did I start?) ✨ For those familiar with the Bellydance industry, most know that we have our own “star” dancers who have risen to the top of their community, their local nightclub scene, or the national festival circuit. How did I do it? All of the above! 💛 First, I got my (beyond lucky) start by being the daughter of American Cabaret Bellydance pioneer, Jenaeni Rathor. See my previously pinned post about my beloved bellydance muses! ☄️ Mama raised me in Ojai, California, an artist & philosopher’s haven, where I danced in her troupe “Yaleil” giving my first performance at the age of 4. Then, I won Miss Teen Ojai 1989! 🎥 So we moved to Hollywood! There, I performed for nearly a decade with top Arabic bands in Middle Eastern nightclubs, presented pivotal performances at festivals, received multiple awards & became a television actress! ⭐️ Then I was cast by famous rock star manager, Miles Copeland, as one of 5 celebrity bellydancers to form the Bellydance Superstars (BDSS) team! I was proud to represent my style in this first of its kind world-touring bellydance show! We became famous for pushing the art of bellydance way up the ranks of media exposure and international acclaim! Plus releasing 2 pivotal BDSS documentaries! 🤩 Our cast of 5 BDSS included me, Jillina, Rachel Brice, Amar Gamal & Sonia Ochoa along with 12 ensemble dancers called the Desert Roses. Many additional bellydance stars of today got their start in the BDSS company! 😎 Extensive international touring & press with BDSS led me to my own independent teaching & performance tours which brought my touring career to a total of 20 years!
