Tour du Mont Blanc, absolutely spectacular hike. Every single day brought completely new, breathtaking scenery: sharp mountain peaks, grass covered ridges, glaciers and rivers, beautiful valleys, forests, blooming meadows, cows, wild animals, but also desolated fields of granite boulders or ruins from old times. I was lucky to enjoy the mountains without too many people around, I got to swim in glacier rivers and lakes, drink water from all the little streams crossing the trail, but I also got burned in the scorching sun, beaten by a hail storm on the ridge or cold in a strong wind and rain. I met some amazing people, tasted some of the local food, remembered a little of my French I didn’t use in years. It’s not an easy hike for sure. I decided to take no shortcuts and hike all the more difficult variants. The uphills and downhiĺs are steep and super long, the trail is often very technical, sometimes with some easy climbing sections. All the rocks and boulders make you hike slow and carefully. There’s no shade to hide from the sun, but there’s so much water to drink everywhere. It’s easily the most beautiful hike I’ve done. I finished the hike in 6 days plus an evening approach and descend on the morning of the 7th day, only because I wanted to sleep in the mountains than down in the village. It’s definitely possible to hike it under 6 days as well.
