When working out the lighting plan for our kitchen, I knew I didn’t want anything hanging down over the island and obstructing this view to the windows and the garden. I know recessed downlights are both extremely faux pas and overused (and lawd knows we ripped them out of every👏single👏room👏 in this house) but you know what? They were the best choice for this part of the kitchen with its lower ceilings. They tilt, they dim, they’re plastered in, inexpensive and nearly invisible from most angles. I love them here. All this is to say, do what works for you and your space overall.
