I’m always surprised when folks are shocked and/or surprised to learn Black folks created (insert modern day good or services here). Case in point, due to the overwhelming success Afro-Diasporic people had at the #battleofmontgomery some folks are shocked to find out that a Black man named Nathaniel Alexander created the folding chair. Also shout out to the amazing history buffs and historians like @sincerely.lettie and @mrcrim3 for spitting real life facts #365! The reality is that at this point what should be met with more healthy suspension is the plausibility of citing a yt person as the creator of anything. 👀👀👀 With the exception of intellectual property (still shouting #stopcitingtemaokun) it’s actually really hard to grasp that within the very anti-Black society and current national (US) racial hierarchy why hoards of yts would have needed to create massively sustainable goods and services. Cos they literally had Indigenous and Black folx to do ish for them all the time. I mean less we forget there was a time in this nations history when Karen’s and Becky’s couldn’t stomach the idea of breastfeeding their own offspring… Le sigh So I stand ten toes down in my belief that if folks say Murphy created it yall better ask questions…✌🏾 #Montgomery #freedomchairs #lifteverychairandswing #onaboat
