Happy National Bowling Day! 🎳 To celebrate I’ve decided to write a love letter to bowling. Dearest Bowling, I’m so glad I found you when I was 5. I had no idea finding you would give me so much. Opportunity. Feelings. Friends. Awareness. Let me explain. You gave me opportunity. From traveling the states as a young bowler to nationally in college and then globally with Team USA. Thanks for showing me the world. You’ve taught me to open my eyes to other cultures. To appreciate how people live. And how they love. Which, in turn showed me even though people come from different places, speak different languages, and look different- they love bowling the same way as I do. Fully and deeply. Because I fell in love with you early in my life you’ve given me a roller coaster of emotions. Love. Heartache. Gratitude. Sadness. But because of you I’ve been able to feel. Everything. So thanks for that. You’ve given me an opportunity to meet the best people in the world. You bring people together and I realize that although there may be bad in the world inside the centers where we bowl there is comfort and friendship. And amongst everything (and there’s so much more) you’ve given me self awareness. I know who I am thanks to you. Even when others tried to write my narrative and tell me who I am- I stayed true.
