At this panel organised by @lkyspp, I will be sharing about the work of @sgmentalhealthmatters and our sincere and persistent call for a permanent mental health office under Prime Minister’s Office since July 2021 following the findings of our #AreWeOkay public consultation. Thanks to @anthea.ong, we sent the findings and recommendations to PM Lee Hsien Loong and several relevant ministers (the PM responded immediately!). Thankful that the Interagency Taskforce for Mental Health was set up to oversee national efforts to promote mental health and well-being beyond Covid in August 2021 but we need a permanent office to tackle what is an existential challenge, not a temporary Taskforce. Mental health sits at the crossroads of many social, commercial and political determinants and is definitely more than a ‘Health’ issue (I.e. beyond the purview of MOH). We will also be launching our #SGMHMPolicyWatch findings on mental health in Parliament in 2022, which @anthea.ong and I will provide an overview of key findings. Anthea will also of course share more about WorkWell Leaders where some of their CEOs contributed to the early consultation for the Tripartite Advisory for Mental Wellbeing in Workplaces. We can all play a part in shaping policy initiatives even if laws are only made in Parliament. Justin Lee will share more insights into other community initiatives that promotes societal and subjective wellbeing.
