RACE RECAP! The Leadville 100 was my first attempt at a trail race and an ultra. This race humbled me in ways I could never have imagined. It broke me and remade me, it taught me that I can dig deeper than I ever thought possible. I fell badly more than 2 dozen times, ran harder than I thought possible to chase the cutoff times at the aid stations. I made it to Twin Lakes aid station with 6 mins to spare and hardly had a chance to regroup before taking on the mighty Hopes Pass and ascended over 3,000ft in under two hours to beat the cutoff time by 4 mins. All this battling ended at Winfield, the 50 mile marker. Unfortunately my day ended there. While some may consider this race a failure I couldn't be more proud of what I accomplished on the trails. The biggest thanks needs to be given to my outstanding crew and pacer. @its_jaybird and @minutemen.post were locked and loaded with everything I needed at each station. @tinamuir88 buckled up and took on Hope Pass with me and kept me going and pushing hard no matter how much I wanted to quite. I will certainly have more thoughts throughout the week as I continue to process this accomplishment.
