It was said, a hedge could be laid during any month of the year that had an ‘R’ in it.. So it is, that come September, as the days begin to shorten and the mists return, that I turn my attention again to hedging. Though the days are still warm, the birds have finished nesting and the first signs of autumn colour will start to show. The work will carry on through until March and will be finished once the blackthorns blossom at the end of that month.
