On Monday, Eric and I went out to Seattle Children’s Hospital to say goodbye to all 1400 ounces of Ethan’s breastmilk. Because Ethan was never able to nurse I exclusively pumped and the milk lab at children’s has been storing Ethan’s milk since he passed. After completing a screening process his milk was accepted as a donation to the Northwest Mothers Milk Bank @nwmmb to go help other babies in ICU’s around the northwest. It was bitter sweet to see the labor of love that was meant for our baby but we acknowledge it’s just another beautiful way Ethan’s life has and will bless others. If you have ever considered being a milk donor, the process is rather simple and it will make a huge difference for babies and mothers. Just contact your local milk bank and they will help you with the process. And yes we took a small bottle of milk to keep and likely make a piece of jewelry out of.
